How We Began
ABOUT the STORIES
Our collection of stories is made up of some of the favorites collected by Opal & Twig throughout their travels. You will find folktales, legends, myths and true personal narratives originating from ancient times to the present day.
Because of their diverse origins, you may find that several of these yarns do not fit a pattern you are used to or a moral that is familiar in our culture. We hope parents and caregivers will find this collection enjoyable and take the time to explore which stories their children might find most engaging.
Our story collection would not be possible without the generous assistance of Jay Stetzer, our favorite scribe of the sages and teller of tantalizing tales.
POLICIES
All orders are shipped via Priority Mail (USPS) within 1-2 business days. Fees are per item: $5.95 for the first item and $2.95 for each additional item.
Returns are accepted and a full refund is provided, no questions asked, for up to 21 days after the date of purchase. A receipt must be included with the returned item(s) in order to ensure proper credit. Customer is responsible only for return shipping charges. If an item has arrived damaged, please contact us.
We will not share any of your personal information with third parties for any reason.
Opal & Twig care very much for our environment, so we make every reasonable attempt to utilize earth-friendly materials. However, because we have such a small workshop and use a wide variety of materials, at this stage we are unable to provide precise data on organic components or recycled content. As we grow, we are committed to minimizing our ecological footprint at every stage and in every aspect of our operations.
All of our enchantments are nontoxic but should not be considered hypoallergenic. The vast majority of our ingredients are all-natural, and in certain cases additional elements have been included to enhance sensory enjoyment and ensure preservation. Small quantities of our potions should be non-staining in most cases.

HOW WE BEGAN
Launched on November 19, 2011, Opal & Twig—and their enchanted world—are the creation of Melissa Boyack, a mom and graphic designer based in Rochester, New York. She is aided by a small, very enthusiastic support team.
The concept for Opal & Twig evolved from an elaborate set of “potions and powers” created by Melissa as a gift for her daughter’s fifth birthday in 2009. This homemade set was so well received by her daughter and other children (and their parents!) that Melissa felt a strong calling to help fill a void in the marketplace of children’s play and toys. Starting in January 2010, she developed the pilot collection offered on this site. It is her passionate hope that Opal & Twig will spark endless hours of imaginative play with highly conceptual items that are safe, non-electronic and earth friendly. Today, she continues her mission to create a business as a work of art.
